More BIG Flexibility with Multitrack Loops and Sonar!

I created this Mix Template to show the flexibility of multitrack drum loops.

I used our Hip Hop Anonymous Drum Loops – 90 BPM as the loop reference for creating this template. Template can be used with any of our loops, but in the preview you’ll hear this set. We did some interesting things with the multitrack loops in Sonar:

I took the Interlude Toms and moved them to the Intro while keeping the rest of the Intro beat

Moved Chorus Toms into the Verse

Used Chorus 2B Toms with the Chorus 1A

Slowed the tempo down to 84 BPM from 90 BPM to make it sound even heavier

Used the default rock kick sample from Drumagog on the Toms. Used the retune knob for the kick sample to tune them up as heavy toms.

Create a hand clap .gog sample for Drumagog. Replaced the bottom snare with the claps. (it’s included in the download)

Though Ron’s kick is excellent raw recorded with the EV RE20, I replaced it with the default Drumagog rock kick ’cause I felt like it.

Two examples. Processed mix and a more raw drum mix. Check out the flexibility in the previews in the audio player above!

Templates take a lot of the grunt work out of setting up a project, placing the loop files in the right place and getting them to sound how you want them. Even if the template does not sound exactly how you’d like the loops to ultimately sound, you can use it as a starting point and make adjustments as you mix.

Levels – EQ – Pans – Plug-ins – Busses – Track Names

This template is already set up with level, eq, plug-ins and other settings that make for a cool starting point with any of the Ron Wikso recorded, Total Control Audio Multitrack Loop Sets.

Simply open this template with Sonar and start a new project based on this template.

Sonar will open with all of the settings that this template has pre-defined in it, including having the tracks in the correct order, making inserting the loop files, simple and easy!

Sonar Version and Required Plug-Ins

This template was created in Sonar 7 Producer Edition using the Vintage Channel VC-64 plug-in that comes with the Producer Edition. I also use iZotope Ozone 3 and Drumagog v4 in this template.

Drumagog Plug-in

If you’re not familiar with Drumagog, it’s a drum replacement plug-in. I’ve created and included a special Drumagog hand clap gog file with this template. We use it on one of the snare tracks to trigger hand claps. If you listen carefully you’ll hear it in the first audio preview.

If you do not have these plug-ins installed, you can still use this template but you will have to either ignore those missing plug-ins or you can substitute similar plug-ins in their place.
